Uzbekistan opens doors to the next generation of public health leaders in Central Asia through the FETP Intermediate program

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, together with the Committee for Sanitary-Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health of Uzbekistan, launched the Central Asia Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP Intermediate) course. The move aims to strengthen the region's public health workforce.

The Field Epidemiology Training Program Bridge Course is a nine-month program designed to provide public health professionals with specialized skills and knowledge to effectively respond to public health threats and improve public health outcomes. The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Health of five Central Asian countries.

“The FETP bridging course is an investment in our future and the future of the public health system of Uzbekistan. By preparing qualified and dedicated specialists, we ensure the health and well-being of our citizens for future generations,” said the Chairman of the Committee for Sanitary-Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health of Uzbekistan, Dr. Bakhodir Yusupaliev.

Collaboration between the United States and Central Asian countries in the area of public health demonstrates a shared commitment to strengthening the capacity of this sector.

The training program promotes knowledge sharing and collaborative learning, facilitating a more coordinated regional response to health threats.
