A “Biotechnology Cluster” will be created in Uzbekistan

The Presidential Resolution “On additional measures to further develop the pharmaceutical industry and accelerate the implementation of investment projects” was adopted.

According to the Resolution, it was approved:

“Road map” for the development of the pharmaceutical industry and accelerating the implementation of investment projects in 2024–2025;

summary parameters of investment projects implemented in the pharmaceutical sector;

plan of measures to enhance the activities of the innovative research and production pharmaceutical cluster “Tashkent Pharma Park”.

A “Biotechnology Cluster” will be created on the territory of the cluster, which will be allocated an additional 60 hectares of land area.

According to the Resolution, also:

Every year, before December 1, based on the needs of medical institutions, the demand and need for pharmaceutical products for the next year is formed and posted on the website;

from March 1, 2024, a system is being introduced according to which the state customer, when carrying out public procurement, can include in one lot only one type of pharmaceutical product (medicines and medical devices under the international nonproprietary name);

from January 1, 2025, the purchase of pharmaceutical products purchased in a non-centralized manner by all medical institutions is gradually transferred to a centralized order.

By the end of 2024, warehouses of regional medical organizations will be created based on the requirements of “Good Storage Practices - (GSP)” and provided with special cargo vehicles for the delivery of thermolabile medicines.
