Uzbekistan plans to increase the supply of sugar through the port of Baku.

Thanks to Azerbaijan's increased efficiency, shipping times have been cut in half.

Uzbekistan intends to increase imports of sugar and other goods through Azerbaijan. This was reported by the agency Trend, citing the Deputy Minister of Transport Abdusamat Muminov.

According to the official, Uzbekistan uses the infrastructure of the Georgian port of Poti, as well as the Baku port for the export of its goods. However, the Azerbaijani port seems to be more developed.

In addition, as part of the second phase of modernization of the port in Baku, a new terminal for mineral fertilizers, which Uzbekistan is going to use for its own needs, will start operating.

The deputy minister also drew attention to the reduction of shipping time by half. Thanks to this, transport services of Azerbaijan are in demand among other countries of Central Asia.

"Already, in fact, we have been able to reduce the transportation time by half - from one month to two weeks, thanks to improved operations on the part of our Azerbaijani colleagues. Today, thanks to these efforts, not only Uzbekistan is using the transport potential of Azerbaijan, but also the whole of Central Asia," Abdusamat Muminov said.

He also noted that this year Uzbekistan plans to use infrastructure of Baku port for import of sugar, which will reach 300 thousand tons. For this purpose, 100 wagons have been sent to Azerbaijan for sugar shipment.
