Uzbekistan to establish control over the export of fruits and vegetables

The Government of Uzbekistan has adopted a resolution on the introduction of export controls on fruit and vegetable products in order to prevent artificially low export prices and combat the informal economy.

According to the document, a list of products subject to supervision will be approved by May 1. A pricing monitoring system in export contracts will also be introduced.

The competence to compile the list is entrusted to the Government Commission on Investment, Industrial Development and Trade Regulation. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry will be able to approve the recommended minimum export prices for its products.

To do this, representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry will constantly monitor world prices for fruits and vegetables.

Minimum export prices will be calculated every week based on various factors, including openly stated prices in the media and on the Internet, prices on international markets, export prices from suppliers and other parameters.

Recommended export prices will be published in the Unified Electronic System of Foreign Trade Operations and on the websites of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Agency for Quarantine and Plant Protection.

Export prices in contracts are allowed to be reduced by 20%, and in case of violation of this restriction, the Customs Committee is obliged to inform the Tax Committee and the Department of the Prosecutor General's Office to conduct an investigation.
