24 major projects worth $12.7 billion will be launched in three sectors of Uzbekistan

TASHKENT, Dec 25 — Sputnik. 24 major projects worth $12.7billion will be launched in Uzbekistan in 2024, the presidential press service reports.

This became known during a meeting chaired by Shavkat Mirziyoyev, dedicated to the development of the electrical, chemical and pharmaceutical industries in the regions.

The Head of the Republic pointed out the significant untapped potential in each of the three industries.

"The saturation of the domestic market with domestic products does not reach 50% in electrical engineering, 40% in the chemical industry, 18% in pharmaceuticals," the report says.

According to the President, the zones and opportunities for industrial cooperation created in the regions are not being used enough. The industrial equipment imported for 116 enterprises worth $85 million has not been put into operation, 727 enterprises are not operating at full capacity.

"Also, industries and regions together have formed 190 medium and small projects worth $ 2.1 billion in electrical engineering, 139 projects worth $ 3.8 billion in the chemical industry, as well as 110 medium and small projects worth $ 1.5 billion in pharmaceuticals," the message says.

After the president got acquainted with their production capacity, product range, and the number of jobs created, he gave instructions to accelerate the implementation of projects and increase their efficiency.
