Посол Узбекистана встретился с министром обороны Пакистана

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — During a visit to Bostanlyk district, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the small hydroelectric power station "Ugam-1".

Various energy sources are actively developing in Uzbekistan, and hydropower is one of the key areas for ensuring sustainable energy supply.

Hydroelectric power stations in the regions are an effective solution for powering individual districts and mahallas that are not connected to the general grid. This makes them an important tool for ensuring stable energy supply at low energy production costs.

In recent years, $630 million has been invested in the development of hydropower, which made it possible to build new hydroelectric power stations with a capacity of more than 400 megawatts, and the total capacity of hydroelectric facilities in the country has reached 2.2 gigawatts. There are 25 hydroelectric power stations with a total capacity of 1,330 megawatts in the Tashkent region, which is 60% of the total hydroelectric capacity of Uzbekistan. Currently, four more hydroelectric power plants are under construction, and by 2028, 23 new projects with a capacity of about 2.4 thousand megawatts are planned to be implemented.

The small hydroelectric power plant "Ugam-1" has a capacity of 1.48 megawatts and annually produces 11.8 million kilowatt-hours of environmentally friendly electricity. The station is equipped with modern hydroelectric units and an automated control system, while only domestic materials and equipment were used. The project will provide electricity to 5 thousand households and tourist facilities, and will also save about 4 million cubic meters of gas per year.

In addition, two small hydroelectric power plants operate on the Ugam River, each of which brings 200 billion soums in annual income. Due to the reuse of water flow, the number of such stations can be increased to ten. This will not only ensure energy supply, but also improve the infrastructure of the region, creating new enterprises in the field of entrepreneurship and agriculture.

To increase the total hydroelectric capacity to 6 thousand megawatts by 2030, it is planned to attract foreign investment and the participation of the private sector. The country has created all the necessary legal and economic conditions for the construction of up to 2 thousand micro- and small hydroelectric power plants.
