President Presented with Projects in the Fields of Construction and Transport

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — On 16 June, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, reviewed new projects aimed at the development of public transportation and urban infrastructure in Tashkent. In recent years, the investment appeal of the capital has significantly increased, contributing to the accelerated development of the urban environment. The construction of modern residential complexes, hotels, business centers, as well as cultural and sports facilities, is greatly enhancing Tashkent’s economic and infrastructure potential. In parallel, a large-scale project is being implemented to build New Tashkent — a future satellite city that, together with the current capital, will form a single metropolis. Given the scale and strategic importance of these projects, special attention is being paid to the quality and reliability of construction work. On 13 May, a meeting chaired by the President was held to address these matters, during which the head of state emphasized the priority of introducing scientific approaches and modern standards in the construction sector. During the current presentation, a report on the work done was presented. As part of the President’s instructions, a repeated analysis was conducted to ensure that the high-rise buildings under construction meet safety requirements. Scientific and technical evaluations were provided by about ten specialized institutions, including the Scientific Research and Design Institute "UzGASHKLITI," the Institute of Seismology of the Academy of Sciences, the Main Department for Emergency Situations, and sanitary-epidemiological services. According to updated standards, the seismic resistance of new structures must be at least 9 on the Richter scale. Each project will now undergo a comprehensive scientific and expert assessment. With the increase in the number of high-rise buildings, the need for a stable power supply is also growing. In this regard, a new 160-megawatt substation is planned for construction in the Chilanzar district, which will ensure electricity supply to existing and planned facilities without overloading the current networks. Additionally, a 20,000-cubic-meter reservoir is planned for construction in the same district. This will provide stable water supply to the Chilanzar, Shaykhantakhur, and Uchtepa districts, as well as allow for savings of around 8,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity per day. Given Tashkent’s growing status as a venue for major international events, expansion of the infrastructure of the Central Asian Expo Uzbekistan (CAEx) complex is planned. Specifically, the construction of modern conference halls is envisaged to support high-level business forums and conferences. Special attention is being paid to the development of public transport as a crucial element of urban appeal. The expansion of the bus network and metro system is continuing in phases. In particular, the Chilanzar metro line is set to be extended to the area of the former Tashkent Tractor Plant. The project will be implemented in two phases: first, the line will be extended from the Pushkin station to the ring road via an above-ground route, and then an underground section will connect it to the main bus terminal in the TTZ area. Notably, the section beneath the Tashkent ring road will be constructed without interrupting road traffic. The new metro branch is expected to serve up to 85,000 passengers daily. A project was also presented for the construction of a metro line that will connect Tashkent with the future administrative center in New Tashkent. The 21-kilometer line will begin at Dustlik station and include nine stations. According to projections, it will be able to transport up to 230,000 passengers per day. During the presentation, the technical and economic characteristics of all the proposed projects were thoroughly reviewed. The President issued specific instructions regarding the improvement of construction quality, the development of construction culture, and the assurance of maximum comfort and convenience for the residents of the capital.
