The Ministry of Construction of Uzbekistan and the World Bank discussed a program to improve energy efficiency in housing

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A meeting was held at the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services with a delegation from the World Bank, led by project coordinator Jorn Huenteler. The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister Ozoda Juraeva, Chairman of the Board of JSC “Issiqlikta’minoti” Ilkhom Turaev, and other officials. As part of the initiatives of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a comprehensive set of measures is being implemented to improve the energy efficiency of multi-apartment residential buildings. A significant step in this direction was the adoption in 2025 of Presidential Decree No. 100, which outlines a deep reform of the heating supply system for residential and other types of real estate, as well as improvements to their energy resilience. According to the document, from 2026 to 2030, the reconstruction of 1,034 apartment buildings is planned, covering 53,044 apartments in the cities of Andijan, Bukhara, Samarkand, and Chirchik. During the meeting, participants discussed the development of a project model for the multi-apartment housing energy efficiency program, as well as the approval and practical implementation of a roadmap for the proposed measures, with the support of the World Bank. “Today, improving energy efficiency and the rational use of resources are among the most important global challenges. Under the instructions of the President, we are actively implementing projects in this area, and I am confident that our cooperation will be effective and bring tangible benefits to our people,” emphasized Ozoda Juraeva. At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties expressed their readiness for continued constructive cooperation.
