Uzbekistan plans to completely close the demand for coal in the domestic market in three years

In three years, Uzbekistan plans to completely close the demand for coal in the domestic market, the Podrobno.uz correspondent reports, citing Uzbekugol data.

The republic needs 6 million tons of coal every year. This year, the Angrensky open pit will receive 3 million 700 thousand tons. By next year, Uzbekugol plans to extract 4 million 500 thousand tons of coal. The indicators will grow from year to year, according to plans, it will take three more years to reach the desired indicator of 6 million tons of coal.

Now the task of specialists is to further develop the section, which will lead to an increase in coal production.

The Angrensky open-pit mine is a deposit, which is a coal deposit with a thickness of up to 60 meters and a depth of 130 to 150 meters. Open pit coal mining in Angren requires the processing of large volumes of overburden. The cut is worked in ledges - this is a necessary requirement to avoid landslides.

This deposit is unique in its own way. Local brown coal is not like raw materials from other mines. Another important advantage of the cut is the associated raw material - kaolin. The kaolin deposit is located before the coal one. Thus, in addition to coal, specialists annually extract 1 million tons of kaolin, and this covers the country's needs for this sedimentary mineral.

Uzbekugol's plans also include further development of the Apartak open-cast mine. The coal mined here is superior in quality to solid fuel from the Angrensky open pit. This year the volume of production at "Apartak" will be about 400 thousand tons, but next year, after the necessary stripping works, the volume of production will increase to 1 million tons.
