This became known during the visit of Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Andijan region.

With the development of the economy and the growth of the population, the need for electricity increases. Over the past five years, households in our country have increased by 1.2 million, and the number of enterprises has reached 260 thousand. This increased electricity consumption by 35 percent. In particular, in the Andijan, Ferghana and Namangan regions, the demand for electricity increased by 40 percent.

"In such conditions, the most correct solution is to increase the use of renewable energy sources," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

In this regard, the meeting focused on the implementation of projects for the construction of solar and wind power plants.

This year, it is planned to build two photovoltaic plants with a capacity of 600 megawatts in the Papal and Ferghana districts. There is also an opportunity to build 41 microelectric power plants in Andijan, 32 in Namangan and 27 in Ferghana.

The Head of State stressed that it is necessary to use renewable energy sources at large enterprises and generally transfer them to self-sufficiency with electricity.

For this purpose, a separate company will be created to introduce solar energy at social facilities, which will be allocated $ 200 million. It will install solar panels and water heaters and will sell the generated "green" energy to a budget institution. The need to replace 3 thousand old boilers in social facilities with modern equipment was also noted.

The President also set a task to create an attractive system for the use of solar energy for the population.
